ABOUT ABOUT

Each year the Tulsa County Master Gardeners conduct a garden tour showcasing several Master Gardener homes. This year we have five beautiful landscapes to inspire you. Each location will have Master Gardeners on hand to answer your questions and explain the plants in the gardens.

Tickets for the event are $10 in advance and $15 during the garden tour.

Dates of the tour:

June 8th - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

June 9th 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Tour Homes - Addresses will be on your ticket when you print it.

1. Natural Haven - This yard is managed without pesticides, using organic products and safer alternatives, which contain an assortment of essential oils and herbs such as rosemary, peppermint, cedar, thyme, lemongrass, lavender and diatomaceous earth

2. Midtown Treasure - The homeowner bought the home 5 years ago. Although it was clear the garden had not been maintained in several years, the homeowner recognized the potential of a beautiful garden. Two good-size Japanese elms complement the front entrance of the property. There is a large knock out rose in the front and azaleas down the east side. Various flowering perennials are at the corner as well as perennial grasses.

3. Bees, Birds and Butterflies - The homeowners purchased this home new in 1994. The landscaping was generic with green grass, green shrubs, and green trees! After identifying the physical challenges, such as poor soil and lack of drainage, they determined that future focus was to design a colorful landscape with an emphasis on the environment, including a friendly habitat for bees, birds, and butterflies.

4. Astilbe working on it! - These homeowners came across this property by happenstance in 2008 right after the record breaking Ice Storm of 2007. With vivid imagination, they began the transformation of the postage stamp size front yard and a little over a 1/3 acre backyard. It was the perfect blank space they were wanting.

5. Country Pride - This garden is set on 2.5 acres in Broken Arrow. The Victoria style home is surrounded by gentle rolling fescue lawn, maple trees and colorful flower beds tucked close to the house.
